If you receive this error when trying to install Office 365 Home Premium/University:
“Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error code 30088-4”
Use this article to remove Office and then try installing it again.
I have the same issue but different circumstances. I had Desktop Office 2013 installed on my computer. I then purchased a subscription to Visio Pro for Office 365. After installing Visio Pro for Office 365 I couldn't activate it so I tried uninstalling my Desktop Office 2013 suite and I still cannot activate my Visio subscription.
Hello, I am trying to install Microsoft Office on my computer for Windows 8. I did have a trial version of Microsoft Office but has now expired. I am now trying to install a paid version of the Office program. How can I install Office on my computer without getting error code 30088-4? The paid program has already been installed successfully on one computer in another state. I'm understanding that this program can be shared on two different computers from the original owner (Mother-In-Law). I have the product key and a link sent to me from Microsoft to install Microsoft Office but receiving that pesky error code an cannot proceed to the install. I am stuck...
This is how you fix this issue:
You need to login to your Microsoft account and go to subscriptions...
you should see your office 365 subscription listed
it will list the computer name you have assigned to one of your available licenses
you need to delete that machine from the list
then click install and let it run through the install process
when its done - you will see a message - all done!
you must then reboot your computer
and then try to login to Outlook, word, excel or which ever program is giving you the unlicensed error or red band on the top screen -
if the red band is still present - log back into your Microsoft account and click the install button again
you may have to try this solution a couple of times to get it working
the good news is that this does work - just try it again if it fails the first time.. it only takes a few minutes to run it again if it fails
