Microsoft Charge Taxes (VAT) but refuse to give a VAT invoice on payment of renewal

I have just had a very lengthy on line discussion (that was a complete waste of time) where I have requested from Microsoft.com,  a full VAT Invoice for a payment that I have made but have not received it apart from a receipt which is not an invoice with VAT etc. shown so I can claim my payment back.  

It is so difficult getting help from Microsoft  and the patronising words that are used is very infuriating - sentences like *"*Please forgive us for the inconvenience that this has caused you, but please do not worry, I will be happy to help you resolve this today." what is all that about it is like I am communicating with a computer - maybe I am.

How do I get a full invoice from Microsoft which includes VAT (taxes) - thanks

Hi

Microsoft do give VAT invoices but you need to be using the correct browser.

Make sure the browser you are using is either Edge or Internet Explorer and log into your account, select payments & billing, then the order you require a VAT receipt for, click on `details' under the total amount shown, then tax invoice and voila there it is.

    no that is not a VAT invoice. writing the word VAT does not make it a VAT invoice. for it to be an invoice it must have a tax data and VAT registration number.

    What GTV says is true! How do we get proper LEGAL VAT invoices from microsoft?

    What I get is not a valid invoice. It has no identification of the issuer (company name, adress etc..) and no VAT number. Also it says "Tax" and not "VAT". Unbelievable that it can be so difficult...

    The answers provided below do NOT work.

    It makes NO difference which browser is used - the document produced is NOT a valid VAT invoice.

    To be a valid VAT invoice it MUST show the VAT number of the supplier.

    Trying to get Microsoft to a) understand this and b) trying to get a correct document seems impossible.

    I believe it is legal to 'create' your own 'Microsoft' VAT invoice, so long as you enter the date, Microsoft address and Microsoft VAT registration number. This information is available on-line if you look carefully enough. I had the same problem with Orange and EE, but was able to find the details on-line, eventually!
