Microsoft Charge Taxes (VAT) but refuse to give a VAT invoice on payment of renewal

I have just had a very lengthy on line discussion (that was a complete waste of time) where I have requested from Microsoft.com,  a full VAT Invoice for a payment that I have made but have not received it apart from a receipt which is not an invoice with VAT etc. shown so I can claim my payment back.

It is so difficult getting help from Microsoft  and the patronising words that are used is very infuriating - sentences like *"*Please forgive us for the inconvenience that this has caused you, but please do not worry, I will be happy to help you resolve this today." what is all that about it is like I am communicating with a computer - maybe I am.

How do I get a full invoice from Microsoft which includes VAT (taxes) - thanks

Hi

Microsoft do give VAT invoices but you need to be using the correct browser.

Make sure the browser you are using is either Edge or Internet Explorer and log into your account, select payments & billing, then the order you require a VAT receipt for, click on `details' under the total amount shown, then tax invoice and voila there it is.

Have the same problem, however the browser I use doesn't matter - the tax receipts only appear sometimes when I check under details... extremely annoying and contacting Microsoft directly they can't even e-mail you a tax receipt.

After a search I found this link:

    http://www.vat-lookup.co.uk/verify/vat\_check.php/VATNumber/GB724594615/CompanyName/MICROSOFT+LIMITED

To be a valid VAT invoice you simply have to include the company address and their VAT number. Print out any details of the sale (e.g. the email confirming the sale amount and VAT amount) and write on it the MS VAT code - GB724594615 and address:

    Microsoft Ltd

    Microsoft Campus

    READING

    RG6 1WG

This will make a valid VAT invoice.

That was exactly my point that Microsoft DID NOT provide me with the ability to obtain a VAT invoice as I am able and willing to provide them with my VAT number but they were not interested - not a problem now as I no longer use their products and have changed to an Apple laptop and other products - no going back.

You dont need a Vat receipt if purchased from a UK company and you may find that MS sales are channeled through Holland or Ireland in which case it would either be subject to Vat at that location, which is not recoverable in your vat return, unless you had provided your Vat reg in the purchase, thereby rendering the transaction vat exempt,
