Can't Sign Out Of Outlook In Browsers?

I don't know about anyone else, but in my never very humble opinion not being able to sign out of Outlook is a huge problem and a major flaw. The way it stands now, any browser on any machine where I open my Outlook will be able to go back in to my email without logging in, whether I'm there or not. And none of the things any support person has tried solves the issue. I've already been thru all of it, removing cookies, history, changing settings, different browsers, changing certificates, etc. and still it is impossible to sign out of Outlook in a browser.

I know I'm no expert, but nobody should have to jump thru all those hoops just to force my browsers to let me sign out of Outlook. And everybody tells me Microsoft made it this way by design?? WHAT?

FIX THIS! I'm no expert, but I'm no ordinary dummy user, either. I'm a developer so I can try things without messing up my machine. But nothing I've tried so far has made any difference. When the browser opens, and I go to Outlook, it automatically logs in and lets whomever is sitting at the computer have full access to my email.

Do you not see this as a major design flaw, Bill?

    I just went back to the tab with Outlook stuck open, where a fresh email had come in. Initially still nothing from clicking on the avatar, but I refreshed again, and this time it has given me the drop-down menu with log out at the bottom and I have successfully logged out.

    Now to see what happens when I close this browser, and relaunch it again later in today (from a cold reboot of this PC).

    I have the same issue.  When I used the Outlook.live.com (previously Hotmail.com) I click the avatar in the upper right corner but nothing happens.   I know that is the way to log out as the first commentor said to do but he did not address the issue you and others are having.

    The problem I have is after clicking the avatar the dropdown menu does not show.  No matter how many times I click nothing happens. 

    My solution to this problem I have added a book mark in the toolbar to click on.  Once Outlook.com reloads only then when I click the avatar and the dropdown menu appears and I may click 'Sign out'.  This is an added step but its a temporary workaround for me.  Can someone write some code that I can execute to sign out since the link in the website is not performing properly?

    I am using Firefox with the Ad-blocker like many others.

    I have addressed this issue with Microsoft.  No word yet if this is an issue with the site not playing nice or something I caused.

    I haven't had any recurrence of this problem -- not in Chrome and not in Firefox -- since I followed the steps above. Of course Outlook remains whitelisted in my Adblocker, which was probably Micro$oft's cunning plan all along.

    I got the same problem. I just switch to OneDrive and logoff. It opens OD in a new tab and when you log off there, you can see the Outlook Mail tab also log off at the same time. That constant non-log off loop is super annoying.
