I don't know about anyone else, but in my never very humble opinion not being able to sign out of Outlook is a huge problem and a major flaw. The way it stands now, any browser on any machine where I open my Outlook will be able to go back in to my email without logging in, whether I'm there or not. And none of the things any support person has tried solves the issue. I've already been thru all of it, removing cookies, history, changing settings, different browsers, changing certificates, etc. and still it is impossible to sign out of Outlook in a browser.
I know I'm no expert, but nobody should have to jump thru all those hoops just to force my browsers to let me sign out of Outlook. And everybody tells me Microsoft made it this way by design?? WHAT?
FIX THIS! I'm no expert, but I'm no ordinary dummy user, either. I'm a developer so I can try things without messing up my machine. But nothing I've tried so far has made any difference. When the browser opens, and I go to Outlook, it automatically logs in and lets whomever is sitting at the computer have full access to my email.
Do you not see this as a major design flaw, Bill?

Mine won't sign out either and I have not saved my password. Now instead of signing out it shows that it's adding the "sign out" to my download folder.
wow. just stupid. no wonder why this program has issues with staff like this working there.
Nope. I just tried, and it just went right back to the inbox. So, still the same problem, primarily in Firefox. I don't like the idea of having to use different browsers for different tasks, and Firefox is the browser that works best with various programs (such as our school's LMS - Blackboard).

I successfully logged out yesterday from Hotmail/Outlook, for the first time in months -- without doing anything differently. I just selected the option to Log Out, and it actually worked.
Thinking yesterday might have been a fluke, I waited until it worked again today before saying anything here.
But, yes, it appears that Microsoft finally listened and fixed this flaw. Amazing!
(At least, it works now for me. I hope that others will find the same to be true for them.)
It is not an issue unique to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
I have the same issue with my school account. I have contacted them. They do not have an answer. They say to contact Microsoft.
My issue, though, only appears to happen with Firefox. I will click on "sign out" 3 or 4 times before it actually signs out.
