Can't Sign Out Of Outlook In Browsers?

I don't know about anyone else, but in my never very humble opinion not being able to sign out of Outlook is a huge problem and a major flaw. The way it stands now, any browser on any machine where I open my Outlook will be able to go back in to my email without logging in, whether I'm there or not. And none of the things any support person has tried solves the issue. I've already been thru all of it, removing cookies, history, changing settings, different browsers, changing certificates, etc. and still it is impossible to sign out of Outlook in a browser.

I know I'm no expert, but nobody should have to jump thru all those hoops just to force my browsers to let me sign out of Outlook. And everybody tells me Microsoft made it this way by design?? WHAT?

FIX THIS! I'm no expert, but I'm no ordinary dummy user, either. I'm a developer so I can try things without messing up my machine. But nothing I've tried so far has made any difference. When the browser opens, and I go to Outlook, it automatically logs in and lets whomever is sitting at the computer have full access to my email.

Do you not see this as a major design flaw, Bill?

    Hi there,

    This is how I solved the same / very similar problem:

    1. Went to account user icon / picture on the top right hand side, but instead of going down to "Sign Out", I went down to "View Account".
    2. On the next account page that came up I went to the top right hand side again to account name / user picture and then went down to "Sign Out" (i.e. did a sign out on THIS page! ("Sign in with different account" may also have worked - I dont know.)

    NB: I had also just deleted my Firefox cookies for outlook.com / office365 but dont know if that helped or not.

    1. MSN home etc was now coming up normally and I had to sign in again - just as desired.

    Hi Linda,

    I am winding down my outlook email as it can be so frustrating & i have set up alternative gmail account. 

    It should not have come to that however!

    Are you using firefox? or any sort of Adblocker?

    Im using firefox with adguard and I had the same problem. I disabled it and refreshed the page and it worked.

    It is absolutely shocking that years after this critical security issue was reported by an end user the problem has yet to be resolved as the sign out functionality still does not work as intended.  Shame on you Microsoft!
