Reinstalling Microsoft Office 2013 on New Computer

I have read a lot of rumors on this topic on the web and want to get a real answer before proceeding.  I purchased Microsoft Office 2013 a few months ago but never installed it.  I'd like to install it now.  However, I plan to purchase a new laptop in approximately a year.  Some of the rumors say that once you install Microsoft Office 2013, not only can you not transfer it to a new machine at a later date, but you can't even reinstall it on the same machine if you reformat the hard drive, decided to install a brand new hard drive, or something similar that changes your machine's hardware configuration.  I want to make sure that if I install Microsoft Office 2013 now that 1) I can remove it later and use the license on a new laptop (Windows 8) and 2) I can reinstall it on this same computer after reformatting my hard drive and doing a clean install of Windows (most likely Windows 7) and other apps.   Please advise.  Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community and we are glad to assist you with your concern.

You will be able to re-install Office 2013 on the same computer if you had to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of the operating system.

You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you, but not more than one time every 90 days (except due to hardware failure, in which case you may transfer sooner). If you transfer the software to another computer, that other computer becomes the "licensed computer."

Any time you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer and you may not retain any copies.

    So, I'll have to buy the Software, in Disc Form, so that I can trasfer it, to another Computer?

    What happens if my Hard Drive crashes, and I'm unable to uninstall it, one the first Computer?

    Planning on getting ' Office 2013 ', for upto 5 Computers.  Asking this, on behalf of my Mother.  It seems that if the Computer Crashes, and you do not have the Software, " in Disc Form ", that you cannot install it, on a new Hard Drive, when the one it's already installed on crashes, am I correct?

    That is not a valid link when I am trying to use the product key for Word 2013---I do not have off---just word.  Cannot find anywhere or anyone who can help me.  It is an endless circle

    I am trying to join diabetes uk and I have rung them once and said I would try on line but their are so many question I could have rung the 20 and at last get a reply but I had office on my Samsung RV510 and this runs XP (don't know if there are other versions nor the date of purchase, say 2012 if that helps) so can you tell me what to do.  I had Office before but let it go because I retired.      PS I will 12 minutes for a reply

    Hi, I have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 purchased through the home use program.  It allows installation on 3 computers.  I only want to use it on 2 computers, but the activation fails with the error that it is installed on too many machines.

    The first installation was on a laptop.  The SSD hard drive from the laptop has been reformatted, and I have installed in into the new desktop.  The program was not uninstalled, simply wiped out with the reformat.  

    How can I liberate the key from the old laptop and install the software on the new computer?
