I commend you Susan! That is an example of thinking outside the box to accomplish your goal. There are also ways to install from scratch the exact version you want so that you never have to rollback or do an upodate. you are right where you waant to be from the start. But good job...

It's not thinking outside the box, it's just understanding that click to run is a 'build version' is all.  This is merely how C2R works.

I spent a few years as an auditor for a big Hotel chain. So I sympathize with the "beancounters" that do not get the credit they deserve. But I honestly think that the comment was more aimed at the rich who are in control of MS. They are more concerned with making an extra dollar even if it is at the expense of the customer who has to suffer through days, weeks, or months of lowered productivity because they were in such a hurry to make a dollar that they didn't invest enough time or testing into making sure that the product was ready for market. Reminds me of the pharmaceutical companies and getting meds on the market too early and people dying as a result. What are a few lives when it can make us a few million dollars or recoup some of the R & D costs we paid out of our pocket. But no business can make it without the "beancounters". So be loud and proud!

Sorry Susan (fortunately you are not one of the MS "bean-counters" <grin>), then you would really have reason to be offended. I was trying to make the point that allowing any extreme position is not good for business. It just seems to me that for that last several years MS has been revenue driven, more than useful new customer features

Were existing customers "happy" with the "new and improve features":

• the Ribbon in Office 2007?
• "disposable" Product Key Card licenses in 2010 (when it came time to transfer the license to a new machine! Rude SURPRISE! )?
• elimination of upgrade type licenses in 2010?
• the change in 2013 licensing to 1 computer and no transfer rights (they did have to retroactively change that last one)?
• Metro in Win 8.0?
• Forced default to Skydrive in Win 8
• Forced default to Skydrive in Office 2013
• Forced default requiring MS Online account to install Office 2013
• Forced default requiring MS Online account to install Win 8 (yes I know there are some workarounds, but average user is not aware of them)
• Office 365 subscriptions (OK, I'll grant, there has been relatively little push back from the general public on that one.  But you can't deny that from a business point of view, 365 subscriptions are all about generating a consistent (increased) revenue stream, rather than "bursts" of revenue that are typical with upgrade of local install licenses.)
