Office 2013 missing after June 11 Microsoft auto upates

I have relatively good news from Microsoft. I just got off the phone with their Tech Support. After about 20 minutes he consulted with a higher up team member and was told to let me know that they are well aware now of the problem and that they know there is a bug in the newest updates for Office ( not Windows, but Office). They are collecting registry keys from computers that still have Office with the updates in place. They are trying to isolate what causes the registry corruption and they are hoping that they will have a hard fix for everyone within a week. But they said that we are doing the right thing until the fix and that is to just get Office working and turn off the Update service in Office only until they announce the hard fix has been released. Then we can apply the patch and allow Office to update normally. So they are isolating what is wrong this very moment and will have us fixed in a few days. In the meantime, they cannot do anything more than what I have mentioned in this message until that fix is out. If you cannot get Office running again they can help you reinstall it and turn off the updates until the fix comes out but that is it. If it is running for you, then just keep updates for Office turned off and a fix is on the way and there is no advantage to calling them. But do not hesitate to call if you cannot get Office to reinstall so you can use it until the fix comes out. They can help you do that much but that will be all.

So that is up to the minute information from the Tech Support Team at Microsoft. I am appreciative to Susan for arranging the case to be open for me and I am thankful to Muazzam Khan who was my Technical Support team member today. You can still continue to call them, but I am being honest when I tell you that they already know and cannot fix it yet. All they can do for you is get Office running again and turn off the updates. If you are already at that point I was told to please be patient and they will have the fix out ASAP. I hope this is helpful information for you and puts some minds at ease to know that MS is on the job this moment trying to locate what they know is a registry bug and fix it.

I found it interesting that he mentioned that this happened on a previous update but not as badly. They got it fixed pretty quickly then. So they know what is going on and just have to find the cause and get it fixed. It is just harder to isolate it this time.

        1. Disable Office 2013 updates. In Outlook Click File, Office
