Office 2013 missing after June 11 Microsoft auto upates

I also just found out something else that you guys may know, but I didn't learn until now. When I purchased my Office 2013 I got a backup DVD just in case I was not able to download it again for some reason. I thought it would allow me to install either the Click To Run version or the MSI Installer version. It would except for one thing. The Product Key you get with your order for the downloadable version only allows you to install the Click To Run version unless you get a second Product Key with the DVD. If you get it straight from the Office Store just click the green button and get that second Key. Now you can install it in either flavor. But if you are like me, I got it through a special offer through my company and I ordered a backup DVD which came from the Office store because it has the sticker inside that says if you want the MSI installer version you have to get that second Product Key, except one thing: You can't get a second key unless you bought it straight from the Office store. So basically, I have a backup DVD that has the entire MSI version on it, but I can only use it to install the Click To Run version because I didn't have any way of getting the second key without going to the Office store and buying a full retail version. So, to sum up: Even if you have a backup DVD, if you didn't get it at the official Office store with a second Product Key then you are only able to use the DVD to install the Click To Run version. It doesn't make any sense to me why you can't install it as long as you have at least one key. Just because you found a good deal why penalize you? And why bait and switch you by making you think you have a true backup that works like a DVD should when it is no different than using the tiny setup files that you downloaded when you first installed it. To be fully forthcoming they should give you a DVD with just the tiny setup files and nothing else. But no, the DVD has the entire full MSI installer version even knowing that you would not be able to use it. Oh well, just thought you might like to know, because in this time of crisis when we are all looking to our emergency backups to get back up and running, this little gem of knowledge was quite a surprise and letdown.

Office Home and Business 2013 is now blank under "file size" in Programs and Features following the June 11 Microsoft update.  How do I recover it?

Please help me recover Microsoft office.  I cannot do anything or pull any of my files.

CAUTION - this worked for me (Toshiba Win 7 pro 64, Office 2013 Home & Business), but because my Office came pre-installed, I could not re-install office it via the office.com website.  It said my copy wasn't found and that for OEM installed Office you have to contact the manufacturer.  So I called Toshiba and because my 5 month new laptop was out of the software warranty period, I had to pay for a support plan. Once I did that, the online techinician (in Manilla) downloaded and re-installed office via Microsoft's site.  FYI, no data or settings were lost.  I've also turned off Win auto-updating.

Thanks Microsoft, for wasting 3+ hours of my day and costing me $100 to have Toshiba fix your problem on my one machine.

I spent an hour and a half with a Microsoft tech 1 last night who remoted in and could not fix, then got a case # and had a tech 2 call me tonight who remoted in and deleted my LAN settings so I had no Internet access. I had to contact my provider then pay HP $100.00 to just fix my internet connection that the Microsoft employee broke. My Office 2013 professional plus still does not work, but I no longer trust Microsoft employees to remote in and try to fix. I can't believe a company of this size and stature treats their customers this way and does not test their security updates with their other products before outing them out there!!

OK, I do not know if this will help anybody or not, but I found out how you can check what updates have been applied to your Click To Run Office 2013 and how you can turn off the updating.

If you don't know already, go to any of the Office programs and click on File on the menu and choose Account. On the right-hand side you will see a number starting with 15 that is a hyperlink. That is the version you are at right now. Just to the left of that number is a button that has 3 choices on it. You can Enable/Disable Updates, View Updates for Office and when they were released and what is in each one, and then you have About Updates. Since I re-installed last night it still has not updated from its original version number. Mine still stands at 15.0.4433.1508, the original installed version. The most recent version is 15.0.4623.1003. You can follow the links and it will itemize every update that gets applied in every update. I have turned off Office's Click To Run updates until they get this fixed. I hope that it was caused by an Office update. If so, I should be ok until they fix this.

If you do not have the Office Update button on the Account page but only have an About button then you have the MSI deployed version and not the Click To Run version. But anyway, since nobody else seemed to know how to control updating for the Click To Run installs, I figured I would share this info in hopes that it helps you avoid losing Office again if you are lucky enough to get it going again. I realize that I should be able to allow all updates except the June 10th ones and be ok, but I have just turned them off completely to be sure. Again, I hope this helps someone else.
