Office Home and Business 2013 is now blank under "file size" in Programs and Features following the June 11 Microsoft update.  How do I recover it?

    I got a call from the tech with my open case asking permission to close it because they know about the problem but do not know how to fix it and the official answer to anyone who is experiencing this problem is to reinstall Office and turn off the updates.

    I certainly hope you told him

    "HECK NO! You CANNOT close the case! It is NOT Fixed!

    If you look back at my posts you will see that I have talked to just about everybody there. Not really, but a lot of them. Calling support was the first thing I did.

    BTW everybody, it could be a while before this is fixed. I got a call from the tech with my open case asking permission to close it because they know about the problem but do not know how to fix it and the official answer to anyone who is experiencing this problem is to reinstall Office and turn off the updates. Exactly what we have been saying since June 11th. Anyway, it could be a while he said, but they hope it will come out in one of the next couple of regular Windows updates in the next couple of months. I just got that call from Washington about an hour ago.

    I'm not sure how you got your disk, are you sure you got it from the Home use web site?

    (we're getting a bit OT to this topic btw)

    I have started a thread here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-office_install/i-cant-believe-microsoft-can-do-this/3922f8a1-489c-4377-9503-f284f97f31d4?tm=1403003161787 to address this issue with not being able to get a working product key for the emergency disc. Now it has its own thread and maybe someone will notice that can help or has an answer.

    @Caine0001

    I've had the same problem as everyone else on here with O365 these past few days and I also got my copy of O365 through the HUP programme at work as we're an MS partner.

    Think I've got the same situation as you.......signed up and got a PK in the confirmatory mail and also purchased the backup disc that is exactly as you describe even down to the sticker on the back with the instructions.

    its all registered to my work email address and when I go to settings on MyAccount when I log in to O365 on the web then there's no software listed for O365.

    I could however remove the existing install of O365 using the tool as explained earlier in this thread and I could install from the backup disc using my PK in the mail though it does do a streaming install which is fine but it's clearly an older version.

    I could also activate it ok though needed to do it on the phone as the Internet activation wouldn't work.

    I then disabled automatic updates to prevent the patches being installed so whilst far from ideal I could remove/reinstall O365 and get working again on a much older version of course as it's the version on the disc as I've disabled the automatic updates.

    Not sure if if helps bug it certainly backs up what you're saying re the HUP disc and programme.

    Thanks for that. My disc does the streaming install also, but if I use the digital PK they gave me originally it does Activate over the Internet. But of course I cannot do a regular install since I do not have that other PK. I am glad someone else can back up everything I have been saying. Even the HUP department at MS, when I was transferred to them, told me that I did not need a second PK to install from disc. I told them I know I can do a streaming one, but this is an emergency disc, so if I need to do an install without internet, I want to be able to. They keep insisting you can even though I directed them to MS written pages and the sticker on the disc sleeve. But anyway. Hey, besides the workaround I posted earlier for downloading the setup files for the streaming download so you can do the streaming download completely from a drive on your computer with no internet at all, I also found out a workaround now to download a complete MSI installation of Office 2013 Pro Plus and be able to install it with our digital Product Key. This is a complete standalone install using our digital Product Key. If anyone wants to know how to do that one, email me. I posted my email back a few pages ago but i put in the word "at" instead of "@". Or leave a message here with your email in it and I will email you the method. Thanks again for the support.
