Office 2013 missing after June 11 Microsoft auto upates

Office Home and Business 2013 is now blank under "file size" in Programs and Features following the June 11 Microsoft update.  How do I recover it?

I can not use word, excel or power point and I must have these programs for my work. I had geek squad work for five hours and could not resolve the issue. Can anyone give me answer to how I can get this issue resolved, because my work is at a stand still until it is fixed and that could cost me my job. I might as well own a mac if I can not use these programs.

You *can* choose what build of C2R you install (see the links I already posted.

the option to control updates, even partially, in 365 is so new that I have not heard of any way of selecting a specific version to work with.

The only thing I can think of is to contact MS, or Digital River (MS's "official" 3rd party installation file download site) to see if they can give you an installation file for the appropriate update version.

They have them, but getting the right one may be a bit of a challenge.

I found a way to get the exact version that I want onto my computer. But thank you for responding. I don't think that DR or MS  would help me anyway. They want to keep everybody up to date and I do not believe they would be much support in trying to find a way to have an older version on your computer and then not allow any more updates. I might be wrong about that though, you never know. But I feel a lot better knowing I can do it all myself. In fact, there are 2 methods for getting to the version you want and no further.

Rohn007 - I am a beancounter by profession and I take offense at your statement that Microsoft is run by Beancounters.  As a Beancounter myself, I understand that a company has to have have happy customers to remain in business.

What build of C2R do you have on that machine now?  If say you downloaded the May build of C2R it will already include SP1.

You can't apply  Service packs to Click to run, they are two totally different animals.  You are either MSI deployment - and thus will receive your updates via Microsoft update and service packs, - or you are click to run and you get your releases via "app-v" and go build to build.

You are one or the other - but not both.

Thanks for your input. But I understand how the application process works and how to check the version. I already wrote a post about it earlier in this thread. Since I turned off the updates right after my install, I have the original version and have not allowed any updates, thus my question about getting the February one on there.

But you have to think outside the box. Just because you are told that you can't manually apply a particular update or service pack simply because it is supposed to be done automatically in the C2R version does not mean that you can't do it. In over 3 decades of IT work I have found so many ways to get around things it is not funny. And as it just so happens, I just found out how you can take a fresh installation of the C2R version of Office 2013 and manually update it to whatever version you want it to be at. In my case I want to update it to include February 2014 so that it gets SP1, but I do not want any updates after that to be applied. I want to stay that way until this problem is fixed. So once I get February which has SP1 in it on my machine, I will get no more updates until I turn them back on after the fix is out. Once you figure out how to work around the rule, it is really so very simple.

So in short, with a little legwork, you can discover many workarounds. In normal use you are correct. Thus my reason for asking if anyone had discovered how to get around it. But I ended up finding it on my own. So while you are correct for an end-user who does not care to exercise any control over their system, your conclusion is wrong for someone who is willing to put the time in to find the answer. You can absolutely do both kinds of updating with the C2R version. The reason why I want to is, as I said, we do not know how long this will go on. I do not want to go for too long a time without the big updates that came along with SP1 for Office that enhanced its security. I do not want to leave my system open that long. So I am going to get my C2R install up to version 15.0.4569.1507 which includes the SP for Office.

Do a little checking around and you will find out how you can do it too. You just have to refuse to be limited by the rules. :-)
