No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I just tried OneNote for a Mac.

I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.

I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to

now use it on my Mac.  

I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal

files from the Mac.  The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into

it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.

I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on

a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think

I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....

Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider

local file storage.

Disappointed.

    Totally agree!  I want to be able to control what happens with my notes and the location where they are stored.  If the notes get lost, I want that to be on me, not subject to a program or network issue controlled by others.  I loved OneNote for PC and I will pay to have the same features and control on the Mac!  

    Please introduce paid version.  When the paid version is released, will we be able to easily import all of our notes without formatting issues?  Thanks!

    I've been relying on OneNote at work for many years now and have been waiting for it to come to the Mac platform so I can use it at home.  However the decision by Microsoft to force the use of their cloud platform is a deal breaker for me.   I believe that it was mentioned earlier that because it is a consumer version they limited it to cloud storage via skydive.  I would have expected that the consumer be given a choice where to store their files,  either locally or THEIR choice of cloud storage as any of them will allow the user to sync to multiple devices.  I've uninstalled the application and will revisit it if the options become available.

    I'm agree with MickatHome. I want to pay for this product, but have a option work with my local storage!!!

    Now using Growly Notes.

    I have old OneNote files which I was able to sync to OneDrive and use on my Mac, via cloud of course. To do this though, you will need access to a windows PC. 

    I downloaded the new OneNote program on my PC, then opened my existing notebooks from my hardrive, which you can do with OneNote for windows. My notebooks were from OneNote 2007. When I tried syncing those notebooks to OnedDrive, it told me that I would need to convert them to the OneNote 2013 format. It tells you how to do this, and I did. 

    After that, just sync your notebook to your OneDrive, and then you should be able to access it on a Mac, via cloud of course.
