I just tried OneNote for a Mac.
I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.
I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to
now use it on my Mac.
I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal
files from the Mac. The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into
it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.
I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on
a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think
I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....
Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider
local file storage.

How hard is it to enable opening a local file like every other Office app? Are you trying to prove to the world that the Mac Office team is incompetent?
In that case you will understand how cloud storage and cloud services often fall flat on their face. Consider it a learning experience in how cost cutting hurts.
Therein lies the lack of customer service by MS. What if the user has neither a Windows machine nor access to one. Bad business.
The subquestion that was asked was how to migrate OneNote files from one account to another. The Windows version allows for local storage of OneNote files. You can save OneNote files from one account and then move them to another with OneNote for Windows (but not for Mac).
That is a really, really, really good question.
I'm assuming that you'd want to export everything to PDF ahead of time. However, for me, that would be a monumental task.
A big issue I have is that I can't even migrate to another application because MS locks OneNote files and does not allow them to be made local by the other application (Outline). Sure, it's possible to download the files but they can't effectively be used.
