No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I just tried OneNote for a Mac.

I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.

I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to

now use it on my Mac.  

I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal

files from the Mac.  The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into

it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.

I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on

a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think

I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....

Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider

local file storage.

Disappointed.

    I have the same issue, working within an University environment and have constraints around place data into the Cloud. We have a mix of OSes on Campus and make heavy use of SharePoint.

    There is a huge requirement for OneNote for MAC to be abel to make use of local files whether on the computer or Local SharePoint site. I agree with russellelisha that seeing OneNote on all my devices is not even close to being more valuable than seeing OneNote files on a drive, or locally, or on SharePoint for collaboration. 

    You stated that OneNote for MAC  it was more consumer focused right now, but how can it be when you are not listening to what the consumers are saying and are instead trying to force them to use the Cloud, and not just any Cloud but OneDrive.

    Like Google and all their creepy policies, MS is pulling its own nonsense trying to force their cloud down everyone's throats.  I use Dropbox with shared folders with others.  I should be able to do as I wish with Onenote files but MS wants to ensure you use their cloud.

    Evernote is the answer.  If MS wishes to pull the creepy card, no problem.  Someone else is always available with a better solution.  Goodbye MS.

    There's a very simple reason that there is no local storage for the Mac version of OneNote: because Microsoft is a garbage company that makes consistently irrational decisions.

    Moved my one note files to my Mac but OneNote on Mac does mot recognize them!!

    Jon ~ My (limited) understanding is that rather than moving your OneNote for Windows files to your Mac, you need to upload them to OneDrive's Documents folder. Then, assuming you're using the same Microsoft account for both OneDrive and OneNote for Mac, your OneNote for Windows files will be automatically synced from OneDrive's Documents folder to OneNote for Mac.

    Take a look at Outline. It doesn't have all of the same features but they are constantly improving it. Plus it opens all OneNote files!
