Office 2010 Service Pack 2 install fails

I tried the install of SP2 - 5 times.  It failed everytime with error 80070643.  I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit; and I think I am running Windows Office 32-bit.  I tried the fixes Microsoft online support pointed me to.  That is: Repair MSI with Fix it - which said it did.  And repair .net Framework 4 Client Profile. 

All previous updates installed successfully for Windows Office 2010.

I only had to reboot once.

ms still giving error 1935 with 78f..?   still?  been happening since 2007..

Yea that is the case.  Most people when they purchase office they purchase the 32 bit and install on there 64 bit machines.  Which works fine!!

That is a Window Access Rights issue, Sometimes windows gets a little "stupid" and does not give itself the appropriate access.

Too bad they slipped in that "unknown" prefix. Makes it much harder to find the right key.

<snip> Found the solution - Actually it was contained in one of the other numerous Questions on this same error.  Simply run the command:

"secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose"

and that took care of the problem in a few seconds! </snip>
