Hi Naman,

If you receive this error:

Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error Code 30088-4

Use this article to remove Office and then try installing it again.

Someone please help. I received an email stating that I needed to install an update for Office 365. I clicked on the link and the install began, only to end with an error message (2-4) saying that a file was needed, which couldn't be found, and this wiped out my original install.  Now email, Word, and all other Office 365 programs are TOTALLY UNAVAILABLE AND HAVE DISAPPEARED  What now?  Thanks a million.  Meredith

I dislike windows 8 more than ever.

But it is on WIN 7 as well, not just WIN 8. It took 3 runs of the fix to allow install of office 365.

But it does not explain why removal of office necessary. AND it is on my 5 licences. Next year I may not renew 365 and start using one of the free suites. Treat me like this after paying for every upgrade bar one since Word for DOS.

    Hello,

Did you register the purchased edition of Office 2013?

Did you refer to the Microsoft article provided by ‘Vidyaranjan’ in the thread?

If no, you may run the fix it tool from the following article which will remove all the installed components of Office 2013 from the computer.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Once the uninstallation is completed, you may use the installation source file to reinstall Office 2013 on the computer and verify the status.

You may also refer to the general troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article below while installing Office 2013 on the computer.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2822317

I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

tried everything in these articles, went through it all painfully step by step and NOTHING worked, still get message that i am unable to reinstall office 365 and refers me to this thread.  So far for the cost of a years subscription I have had office working on my windows 7 64 ultimate computer for 1 day.

Luckily I also have a Mac and it installed fine on that machine, obviously microsoft applications just don't like windows, lol.

Anyway, can anybody at microsoft actually look at the specific problem that occurred with the update they did the other day that seems to have screwed so many peoples installs up and fix the issue instead of simply posting links to generic troubleshooting articles.  I guess they already have their money so who cares if the users can actually access what they paid for.
