Hi,

I constantly show a very high CPU usage on the CSISYNCCLIENT.EXE process (MS Office Document Cache Sync Client Interface). This is very frustrating and slowing down things on my laptop.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Pls help.

I managed to narrow it down to OneDrive that was causing the issue. After reading Millewa's post I hunted down a way to delete the cache, and so far so good.  Fingers crossed as this has been dragging out over a few days now.

I followed these steps to delete the cache (yes - I know its for SkyDrive but it still worked)

To clear your cache, close all your Office processes like groove.exe (which is SkyDrive Pro), msouc.exe, msosync.exe, office library sync,

Browse to “C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw” and delete all the content. (You will see that this is all related to groove and spw = SharePoint Workspace).

Next, go to “C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache” and also delete all content from this folder. This is where all the caching from your files are stored.

After you deleted everything, you should be able to start SkyDrive Pro again (using “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVE.EXE“).

Good luck! I will re post if it starts playing up again :|

Hi all,

I just suffer the same issue with my original surface pro 128G (win8.1)

I check the task manager which show a lots of CSISYN~1.exe execute in background and CPU usage is 100%.

I try to dig out some solution by google and short summary as below.

1.Unchecked****the option "Use Office to sync files faster and work on files" in onedrive( sky drive)

But it didn't work for me due to I even cannot find the setting option in my onedrive setting.

2. Removal/reinstall the office 2013 or office 365.

It work but when I re-install the office, the issue come back again.

3. Removal the skydirive or onedirve app/ program

As you known, the ondrive is default app in win8.1. however, I still find a skydirve program in programs and features of control panel.

Therefore, I try to uninstall and remove it. -----> it work. no more CSISYN~1.exe abnormal execute in background and everything normal.

For you all reference.

Thanks

Arthur

Dear All,

I actually worked with a second-level Microsoft technician today (for about four hours, via phone and LogMeIn), and the problem was actually solved. The cache used by OneDrive (MSO cache) was corrupted. The installation of Office 365 was completely removed, and a clean install then worked. I was not following all the details as the technician worked on the computer via LogMeIn, but I can say that in my particular case, the Csisyncclient.exe problem resulted from a corrupted cache.

If the other people on here are anything like me, they will have repaired, uninstalled, etc office several times.  I surely have.  nothing worked.

Daniel Jackson, I am like you!  Two machines with the same issue.  Both have had office repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled several times.  Document Cache cleared several times including following the bits of Glennz_007's cache delete that is applicable.  The only thing that worked for me was to rename CSISYNCCLIENT.exe and then stop the process.

But what does this interfere with?

Any other solutions out there?  I am on Win 10 with office 365 and about 50GB on onedrive shared across multiple platforms.

    Impatience may be my enemy.

I gave the office repair routine and delete cache one final go on both machines yesterday evening before retiring to bed and leaving both machines on.  Laptop powers down after 30 mins of no user activity but desktop remains on overnight.  This morning desktop was working fine with Document cache running and CSISYNCCLIENT kicking in with only low CPU usage.  Laptop power up revealed no improvement BUT I decided to leave CSISYNCCLIENT running with its high CPU usage in the background.  After a tortuous couple of hours it eventually settled and is now running perfectly acceptably.

I am left wondering whether after deletion of cache because it became corrupted CSISYNCCLIENT has to rebuild the cache, which could take some time for 50GB 35,000 file store and my impatience has been the issue rather then they systems inability to work without a renamed CSISYNCLIENT.  If so then it would be great to have some confirmation from Microsoft that this is indeed what happens and the we should wait a few hours for the cache to rebuild if ever we need to delete it!

    Re: The CSISYNCCLIENT respawning problem...

Thanks for that helpful reply Dai.

I have been having this problem with OneDrive on Windows 7 for well over a year now. It is so severe that it has stopped me using OneDrive Altogether and I virtually no longer use Microsoft Office, One Note or OneDrive. I spent four hours on the phone to the US from the UK trying to get Microsoft to fix this and I just got batted round in a departmental loop for four hours until I ended up back in the same department, then the line went dead. For a supposed "World Class" company their ability to fix this problem truly sucks...

I used OneDrive from my home based one man operation  and Outlook has so much of my business data in it that I'm terrified to unistall Microsoft Office 365 and reinstall it in case I lose all my data and cannot re-import from my PST file. I've tried every other solution I can find on the web to no avail.

In the end I completely gave up and started using Libre Office, DropBox, and Evernote as my productivity tools. Someone at Microsoft really needs to read this thread and get this problem sorted out!

I'll give it one more try and leave the machine on as you suggest Dai. I appreciate your input!

I'll update the thread if I get a positive result.

    Afterthoughts...

If anyone can point me in the direction of correctly backing up and restoring the data in Outlook from Office 365 I would greatly appreciate it!

    Peter Creed
