Can .pst file be located in Onedrive?

I have read some other posts and I am thoroughly confused.  Here is my setup, and what I would like to do:

I have a subscription to Office 365.  My main email account is a Gmail account, and it´s a POP account.  I also use  Calendar, Notes, and Tasks on my Outlook 365 setup on my main desktop computer.  I also have a Laptop that I only use when I am on travel.  Therefore, I never use the Desktop and Laptop simultaneously; I use either one or the other.

Until now, each time I go on travel, I need to manually copy my C:\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook[emailaddress].pst file from my Desktop to my Laptop, and then copy it back to my Desktop after the end of my trip.  This is awkward and very inconvenient, to say the least.

Could I move the storage location of the .pst file to Onedrive, so that both Outlook 365 installations in both the Desktop and the Laptop are pointing to the same .pst file and I wouldn´t have to do all the manual copying anymore?

If I can do that, what steps would I have to do to to change the storage location of the .pst file so that I don´t mess up anything?

Alternatively, if storing the .pst file in Onedrive was not supported or recommended, is there a way to automatically keep two installations of Office365 as I described, in synch?

    Ok but why won't Microsoft do for plain Outlook what it does with OneNote, namely save the user's data to the cloud, where it is easily shared and comparatively safe from inadvertent data loss, then periodically create backups to a local folder?  (OneNote 2013 on my laptop saves my notebook at a url very similar to https://d.docs.live.net/5efb087e4hb04609/Documents/My Notebook then backs it up periodically to a local folder, C:\Users\geo\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\15.0\Backup\My Notebook, by default.)  Is it to create a demand for Office 365, or similar (hunger for the lucre)?

    Outlook is designed primarily for use in a corporate environment with Exchange Server.

    The fact that it's been used by private individuals for some years hasn't altered that fact - most Outlook seats are still in corporate environments.

    Outlook.com has come close by using Exchange Active Server - and of course you can use an Outlook.com email address in Outlook.

    Otherwise you need to use one of the methods I posted.

    outlook.com has several problems for me.  The worst being that it doesn´t have an automatic "archive" function, with a corresponding "All Mail" folder, like Gmail does.  This function has been invaluable for me in locating old email messages of great importance that had been discarded and that would otherwise have been lost.

    Also,  and surprisingly, and as others have partially mentioned here, outlook.com doesn´t synch all functions available in Outlook.  For example, Categories don´t synch correctly, and there are many threads here commenting on this if you do a search.  As well as several other functions, notably Tasks.  And I believe the same with Notes.

    Lastly, I am not sure I understand your point #2.  Gmail contacts and Calendar are available anywhere online.  But if you mean to say that Gmail can be the intermediary among Outlook installations, to keep Outlook Calendar and Contacts in synch, then I don´t understand or know how that could be accomplished.

    Come on MS, are you seriously telling me if when I now want to buy a SP4 for 900 bucks that I can not sync my 4 email accounts between my outlooks? All are IMAP but they just sync in-box and not sent messages. Are you kidding me? There MUST be a way! Same with that message follow-up. If I mark a message on my WP10 with that red flag, why isn't that red flag transferred to outlook on my laptop... Still lightyears to go and it doesn't seem to be too difficult to implement that does it?

    Then there's something incorrect in your set up. Have you checked that all your instances of Outlook are subscribed to the folders you want to sync?
