Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
I am a little puzzled as to what the problem is.
This is what I did when I was dealing with a similar problem. I am not an expert but this worked fine for me.
- change the settings of your pop account so that it is no longer able to download any emails from the server (without deleting the POP account), so delete POP server addresses etc.;
- create a new IMAP account for Gmail in Outlook (inbox should be almost empty as most emails would already have been downloaded into the POP account and then presumably deleted from the Gmail server)
- manually drag email folders within Outlook from the inactive POP account into the new (IMAP) inbox. You obviously only need to do this once.
- when done and comfortable you can remove your POP account
This will move your old POP folders to your new IMAP inbox and will then sync all these folders across all IMAP devices.
At no point do you need to look at your pst file paths etc. Everything is done from Outlook. You just need to make sure that your IMAP inbox is large enough to accommodate the folders and emails that you need when on the road. In my case, I keep very old emails in a separate pst file on one of my computers (I could probably store this in OneDrive if I wanted to, but have not tried this; multiple device access might corrupt the file I imagine). All this year's emails are in subfolders in my IMAP inbox and synced across all my devices.
Am I missing something?
