Error message “Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error code 30174-4”

My solution for Error 30174-4, when you start installation behind proxy server.

Start console CMD with option "Run As Administrator"

in the console run the command shown below:

netsh

then

winhttp set proxy for.example.proxy:8080 (your proxy server and port)

after a successful execution of the command

exit

And now you should "Run as Administrator" Installation file, for example: Office2013internetinstallation.exe

Everything should install without any problems.

If you have a Watchguard (Or Sonicwall) Firewall, that is the cause of this issue:

Watchguard XTM:

Policy Manager>Setup>Actions>Proxies>HTTP-Client.1 (Or whatever your main one is named)>Edit>HTTP Request>Check "Allow range requests through unmodified"

Adding a *.Microsoft.com/* exception was not sufficient for me, still had the same problem...

I logged on office .com7setup and entered the 25 character product key

In my case, this did not solve the issue. Even got worse: the attempt to remove Microsoft Office 2013 from the computer with kb2739501 actually failed cleaning everything, leaving the software in a undefined state. As a result, I can neither re-install it (a message says my installation source does not have appropriate authorization), nor remove it !!!

I got mad with Office 2013 since I bought it last year I could not produce more than a dozen of documents ! That's a shame !
