Use of own domain name with Office 365 Home/Premium

I find this whole discussion disturbing.  Where is MSFT on this question?  I JUST was on a chat with Office 365 sales and they LIED to me, saying I could absolutely host my email domain in Office 365 Home and for no additional charge!  I was very specific in my question and all I got in return from "Misty" was "of course" and smiley faces.  I could have purchased a subscription under false pretensions if I hadn't gone out and done my own research.

MICROSOFT, WHERE ARE YOU?  A straight-forward "no, we don't support it and don't plan on supporting it, and MSFT thinks anyone who has a personal domain is stupid" would at least be an answer.  Quit hiding from your customers!

Maybe you should get in touch with 'Misty' and ask her how you could host your email domain and refer her to this thread.

You'll never know, maybe you found a solution for us and we are 'misunderstanding' how it all works and we could do it after all ... false hopes?

To summarize:

• Office 365 Home does not support custom domains
• If you have registered your domain before with domains.live, you can still access email but cannot manage (add, remove, etc.) users

IMHO, the reason for that is that MS gets the revenues from the businesses, not home users and that's why they pretty much don't care about Office 365 Home. You get the minimum out of the box and then you are on your own.

An option: go back to your domain provider, open email accounts there (most of the time thre are enough free ones for the family use) and forward all mail to your [non-domain] outlook.com email account. You can also add your domain provider registered email to outlook.com to be able to send from outlook.com directly.

Thanks, I did not have enough patience to read through the end of the discussion. Even a Developer Office 365 subscription has own domain option, but it's only 1 user. I edited my previous post. I am still disappointed that [free option] of domains.live option was discontinued. I don't need Office 365 but I want Outlook.com with my own domain.

Now I see what you meant here. You can get email off any server of any domain using outlook, but you still cannot use Office 365 Home with your domain.
