Use of own domain name with Office 365 Home/Premium

I cannot seem to find out whether I can add my own private domain, i.e. not a business user, but I own a personalised domain, with Office 365 Home Premium.

In other words, I would like to use ******@mydomain.com instead of ******@outlook.com.

I know you can do this with Office 365 for Business, but need to know whether this can be done with Home Premium.

Thanks

Chris

Since my previous post a little change has been made by MS. Now I'm able to set personalized email addresses to other members of my O365 subscription.

Keep us posted if you still have any issues with that.

    Regards,

    @szymonBis

I did redo the wizard. This is the result:

    • My domain was OK and the line came in green. So Godaddy settings are ok.
    • Next step was making my personel email *** Email address is removed for privacy *** --> Here i have the problem that the circle symbol is runing with " wait for Validation" and it stays running even after 5min.
    • i did deleted my personal e-mail in my ms aliassen and even waited fo 1 day before starting this wizard.
    • As a test i changed the name in the section before @mydomain.be --> imidiatly OK.
    • After this trying to make a second personal mail adres for my second user. I cant find any add buton for this. Also not in the profile of the other user. This problem i coud retrive in the manual. Here MS is saying that this is possible because aff the roll out delay on all users.

So for the second user i have to wait. For my first problem i dont know. Any idea ??

for the moment i did a rollback so my mail can work.

    Isn't that obvious?

    This feature is still beta.

What you ask for is not available for all users yet.

It even says so in the FAQ:

Please note that while this feature is rolling out, Office 365 Home shared users may not be able to set up a personalized email address, even if the owner of the Office 365 Home subscription is able to do so.

Why don't you just wait until it's ready?

Btw: For me it's also not active yet. But I'm not in a hurry.

You are completly right. But like you can see this item on the forum was started a few years ago. Knowing that we all are curious even if we only have beta access.

My reply was ment to give feedback to @szymonBis like he asked. I think this is the purphos of Beta is to test and give feedback so we can help other users.

So my point about the personal emailof a second users is like i mention and you also a posibillity of the delay in the rollout.

My second point of the problem when adding my own personal mail adres is something new and i tought good to mention so people that has the same problem and found a solution can share this.

    Dont you agree ?

Of course feedback is good, sorry, no offense intended. And: oh yes, I did so wait for this - didn't expect this day to come any more. Especially as this is actually not reflected in any of the publically available roadmaps for O365.

But still I'm not sure I understand what your problem with the first address (for your own account) is:

You say you can generate it (which is also what your screenshot shows).

So your first try didn't work, but a day later it did?

I did generate mine perhaps 30 min after connecting the domain and it worked immediately.

I just deleted it and created a new one - also works.

From my point of view I can also not yet see the feature to add other users as @szymonBis reports, and certainly I can not see a way to add extra addresses on top of that... But let's wait and see.

    @Jan VM

    1. Personal email address cannot be the same as existing alias of Microsoft account. If you want it to be the same, first remove the alias of your account. It will be re-added again while setting up your personal email address. You don't have wait for it such a long time as you mentioned. I did it just after removing my alias.
    2. Regarding other familly members
      1. personal email address have to be set up from their accounts' contexts. The same way as for main users. The only difference is you don't have to touch GoDaddy setting in that case.
      2. for my second user I faced an issue while trying to add a personal email. I was notified that configuration of personal email was successful but the email wasn't added...not sure why. I make another few attempts one after another with no success. I had left configuring it for some time and next day I wanted to try again. But there was no need to do anything more. I just found that personal email has been already configured. So it seems I had to wait some time. Not sure how long it  was necessary and whether it was some bug of feature :).  But just be patient and do not make a rollback. If you may wait just do so. Be worried if it isn't configured well after one day at least. All in all that's why it's a beta stage.
      3. for my third user I'm not able to configure personal email at all. There's no such option. It seems that the account hasn't been counted yet in the rollout. But it's not critical for me in that case. Hence so far I've got two of three account configured with personal email addresses and I can stay with that so far.

"After this trying to make a second personal mail adres for my second user. I cant find any add buton for this. Also not in the profile of the other user. This problem i coud retrive in the manual. Here MS is saying that this is possible because aff the roll out delay on all users"

It seems that you just have to wait or do a rollback. It depends on your needs and how critical for you is missing personal email of other familly members. In my case I may just wait and give you some feedback.
