I cannot seem to find out whether I can add my own private domain, i.e. not a business user, but I own a personalised domain, with Office 365 Home Premium.
In other words, I would like to use ******@mydomain.com instead of ******@outlook.com.
I know you can do this with Office 365 for Business, but need to know whether this can be done with Home Premium.

This feature missing is a deal breaker. Please MS at least announce a road map date for this! Who wants to use a shameful @outlook address. I mean you make a package attractive to tech enthusiast and then you deny them a core need, shame :(
Yes, I concur with your understanding and I am in the same position as you with regards to Google Apps. I have it free because I had subscribed a long time ago.
I still do not see why MS do not want to open this up for O365 Home. After all, we are paying an annual fee for 5 users.
As Tom said, it is very common nowadays for families to own a domain name ... which they cannot use with O365.
Personally, I do not think MS have anything to lose if they give us this functionality. I just hope that they look at these threads sometimes to get our feedback :-)
MS can potentially lose a lot with this. the amount of business users who are incorrectly licensed or who find means of a cheaper solution are unreal.
Why not just modify your outlook.com address to come from a from address and direct your domain email directly to outlook. The only downside i see to this is that the true email address is @outlook/hotmail.com
I personally would not be in favour of MS opening up domain use for personal o365 home as i know a lot of my customers would start using this and stop using office 365 business.
I am surprised that MS have not upped the pricing for 5 users home edition as the online storage is generous a long with the office license. The personal to office 365 home for a year is less than $10 a year and can be stacked 4 times!!!
When MS stopped Technet it caused panic as many users were using this for production use instead of dev/test.
The most disturbing thing about this entire thread is the complete silence from MS.
I have a custom domain from OUTLOOK.com and am grandfathered in for some amount of time (who knows how long) but my now inability to manage email accounts will drive me somewhere else.
Come on MS...say something! Are we on our own or do you have a "roadmap"!?
I'm also in the same position: I have my own domain name for personal email and want to subscribe to O365 Home.
I consur with the others on this thread that there must me a sizeable number of people in this position and Microsoft is missing a market opportunity.
I currently have O365, through my employer. I am leaving that company soon and was considering subscribing to O365. But with Microsoft's deafening silence on this issue, I am looking at LibreOffice instead. The net cost would be less, as my WP website and email is hosted by GoDaddy for much less than that O365 Home and even less than O365 Personal. Apparently, Microsoft does not value its customers enough to consider this segment of users.
