Use of own domain name with Office 365 Home/Premium

Of course that is a major limitation: 

On your family domain, you could not have *any* more addresses than exactly 1 per user = Office license holder. 

No secondary address for newsletter signup or SPAM (as alias into your own mailbox), no catch-all.

And no way to create extra seperate accounts for the kids that don't have Office licenses (or in my case: for the printer).

I would argue that would make this unattractive to about 50% of the target audience of this feature. (I mean, if you have your own domain, usually you do abit more than just 1 address per person).

No, this isn't supported. If you want to create multiple aliases on a single mailbox with your domain, we suggest purchasing an Office 365 Business Essentials subscription.

But one could try another workaround:

Set Domain up via temporary zone @GoDaddy as discussed. Set up Domain in outlook.com.

Once everything works, copy the records that MS set up on your domain, over to your original DNS.

Once done, loose GoDaddy.

That way you'll still have the correct DNS settings live and have your eail arrive at the right place in Microsoft.

Question is only if they at some point check wether it's GoDaddys nameservers. 

One would need to try this. And never have a warranty that they never check.

So perhaps a nice trick but perhaps not for productive use.

Hey, thanks for the tip with the off-site DNS however I did notice that it doesn't seem to be free. When creating the zone, I got a mail with the nameservers and on the bottom there is:

"Please note that since you are not a Premium DNS customer, this off-site zone will be deleted in 30 days."

Are you really sure that it costs 0?

Hey, indeed I wasn't aware of such limitation that time. Sadly I wasn't too perceptive while setting up my domain and overlooked that.

But my first thought was to transfer my domain to GoDaddy.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to do so because of some limitation for ".pl" domains. So my only solution was to try parking my domain at GoDaddy's DNS servers or buy new domain (what obviously wasn't the case). So far my DNS zone hasn't been deleted yet. I haven't confirmed with their support yet how they are going to proceed. But currently it took 35 days since I've configured it and my domain has been still active. 

If they delete it I'll stand it and just move to Mailgun or other similar service. I hope it won't be necessary.

What is the cost of using GoDaddy's name servers if you already pay domain registration fees to another company?

GoDaddy's Premium DNS service (https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/premium-dns) is $2.99/month (USD).

I initially had a problem where the mailgun IP I was assigned was blocked by outlook (presumably someone reported it as a spam relay).

I raised a ticket with mailgun and they moved me to another IP immediately and now all is good.

I periodically check for any forwarding issues, and also set up a IFTTT webhook to alert me to another email address on any permanent forwarding failures.

Also if you only need incoming mail redirected to outlook you can use this free service:
