Use of own domain name with Office 365 Home/Premium

I cannot seem to find out whether I can add my own private domain, i.e. not a business user, but I own a personalised domain, with Office 365 Home Premium.

In other words, I would like to use ******@mydomain.com instead of ******@outlook.com.

I know you can do this with Office 365 for Business, but need to know whether this can be done with Home Premium.

Thanks

Chris

What is that that forces you to purchase the O365 instead of Office 2016 which would last for several years?

I had the subscription for 1 year. However I realized that my family does not utilize that at all.

So, after that, I have purchased 2 copies of Office 2016 for a pretty good price and then I have one license that I use on my work machine. I do not think I would have a problem with using Office 2010 either, for example.

Yes but we pay for the subscription too ... €99 per year here for Office365 Home Premium. It is not free!

No, it's a stupid decision by Microsoft, because they will loose our business as we take it elsewhere, where those features are offered. And the overheads for providing DNS and MX services for domain names is negligible, so even if they charged an extra

fee for it, it would be profitable.

I think there are plenty of businesses around that pay 365 Business subscription per person without even looking at the monthly bill. There are enough countries where 10 euros will not even buy you a dinner. These are they are after, not the home users peanuts.

I do not mean to be rude. I am trying to think here the way MS thinks. So, if your business cannot pay the subscription per month, then they are not interested in you. It is a different scale that they are looking for. They do not mind loosing me as a home user at all.

    Nothing personal, just business.

I think it is possible to see that Microsoft is switching to being mainly a cloud business company. There is not enough money in the home sector, and they are giving up on it. Even Windows 10 is "free" for home users, but it is not for companies (even if you did not manage to get a free upgrade from 7/8 to 10 for free at the time, 10 is the last version you are going to buy).

Email: MS does not see big revenues in scanning your emails and showing targeted adds, like Google does, so they giving up on that segment as well by pushing everyone to the 365 sector. We are pain in the a$s for them with our custom domains, because it requires the infrastructure that costs, and we are not generating enough revenue to keep it running. My bet is that there are not enough premium accounts registered, so there is not enough paying customers to support the feature.

They (MS) are not your friends; they are not going to be nice to you, just because you ask them nicely or even have thousands of people voting for a feature. They are a [very] profit oriented company with hungry and greedy shareholders, just like any other big company that is "continuously increasing shareholders value". They are not building things for the people. They are building things for the money.

So, I suggest we instead. discuss different options of how to go around and make things work for us by suggesting services that are home segment friendly.
