Problem with copy & paste in Excel 2010

I am running Excel 2010 on Windows 7. I am having a problem with the cut and paste command. This has worked OK for the few months I have been using the program, but the paste options have suddenly stopped working properly.  When I click on paste special, the only options shown are unicode text or text, with no explanation. When I copy and paste formulas, e. g. autosum,  it is not applying them properly to the selected cells, or it is just pasting the values of the copied cells. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office Home and Business 2010, but the problem is still there. Any ideas?

Skype has released an updated version of the Click to Call browser add-on that should be free of the problem mentioned above.

If you want it, go to http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/click-to-call/windows/ and click Download Now.

    This recently (after a patch Tuesday?) started happening to me. I had recently installed Skype too.

    I found the advice to try uninstalling Skype Click-to-Call here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-excel/my-format-painter-in-excel-2010-has-stopped/f4863ace-8ac5-4c42-9838-8bbc8efb6ec1?msgId=b56ecd04-2b46-4fa6-a0c6-d9eed120f441&tm=1332157717244

    Uninstalled Skype Click-to-Call (which I can live without) and hey presto everything else is back to working as it should.

    I am using Windows 7 Home Prem OEM from Sony. It is happening on all the below mentioned browsers.

    IE 8

    8.0.7600.16385

    Google Chrome

    17.0.963.79 M

    FireFox

    8.0

    Please help me. I have also performed the re-installation, but in vain.

    Cause of the issue: Formulas, when copied, are detected as Text when any browser is open. Hence the "Paste Special" options are limited to text pasting i.e. Uni-code or Arial Text.

    Once we close the browsers, it is working fine, even though the same file was open and copying the same formula, which wasn't working earlier.

    Issue started after installing a recent Windows Update.

    This has been my experience. The following browsers do not create the issue: IE 8 and Firefox 10.0.2. I haven't tested IE 9 or the latest update to Firefox. This happens across all my Office 2010 apps and is a MAJOR productivity hit. I live/die by being able to paste in appropriate format options. BTW, the "show Paste Options button" also stopped showing up (though the CB is checked in the apps cut/copy/paste options) in Word 2010 and Outlook 2010. I see it in Excel 2010, but the only option is "plain text".
