Disable "pick up where you left off"

Have any of you figured out how to turn this "Welcome back, pick up where you left off" bookmark thing? I've gone through all the options and add-ins I can find, and I can't make it stop doing this.

Thanks!

On the same track I deleted all the subkeys under 'Reading Locations' and then made the 'Reading Locations' key read-only to everyone.

This has stopped Word writing to the key and I no longer get the message when I re-open a document.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Reading Locations

That looks like a good place to start.

    Ok, Stefan,

I deleted the documents under Reading Locations, and then click on Permissions for Reading Locations.  Under there and user names, I have the following:

    • Restricted
    • System
    • Charlie (Charlie - PC\Charlie)
    • Administrators (Charlie - PC\Administrators)

With "Restricted" highlighted - then below under Permissions for "Restricted", the options are:

    • Full Control
    • Read
    • Special Permissions

With Options to Allow or Deny - so which should I select for the 3 options, and should I do that for each of the above "user names".

Sorry to bug, but just trying to get everything clear before I proceed so I do not screw everything up.

Thanks for putting up with me!

    Charlie

IMHO Word seems to be moving away from the defacto (Windows) standard for professional writers.  You can not write seriously on ANY mobile platform.

So close!!! That is, indeed, where they track it. I deleted the key and everything was A-Ok...then I restarted my machine and (darn it!) there was that irritating popup flag again, and it had gone ahead and reinserted the key into the registry.

I still think you're on to something here. I'll keep playing with it.

    Thanks!!!
