Office 365 subscription, unable to activate on Mac computer "Error code:0x80072f17"

If I try to activate using the Product key, I get invalid product key error. If I tried to activate by signing into Office 365 subscription I get the below error

Error  "Sorry, there was a problem while trying to connect to your account. (Error code:0x80072f17)"

I am able to login to www.office.com/myaccount using my email address and password. I even changed my password and tried to activate using the new password but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Hi There,

There was an issue with activating Office 365 subscription on Mac with the associated error 0x80072f17.

At Microsoft we were able to find the root cause and have fixed the issue.

So I would like to inform you to attempt the activation again now and see if it works.

Thank you for patiently waiting for the resolution.

Ashutosh

everyone should get on the Office365 list if there is such.

How's everyone that is having an issue, Internet connection. If its not great this will probably contribute the issues.

ME TOO! I've paid, entered my product key with existing live ID, downloaded the software, but can't seem to activate the Office 365 platform & get Office up & running for my new small business.  AND the support is non-existent.  If it exists I can't find it.  MICROSOFT - is this too tough for you?

No Microsoft's isn't the worse. Adobe's is absolute worse with Intuit's a very close second.  (BTW Adobe is also subscription also.

I have another wrinkly, having a PC and a MacbookPro, the PC subscription is just fine, but no go to sign in and activate with the Mac.  Working now with Tech Support to see what they can do.

One of the other community threads suggested it is some type of security server certificate issue.... however I tried turning off my Kaspersky (yes, I know) and then activating Office, and bingo, went right through....  Kaspersky also fights with Silverlight all of the time for Netflix same type of issue and resolution... nobody knows how to explain it to us tyros, but the quick on and off seems to work.  Might be risky, but so far the lights have not turned off.
