Hi,

I bought the boxed version of Office 2013 Home and Business English edition at a local store.

I come home, open the box and there's no disc (!??)

I go to office.com/setup as per instructions, enter my key and then forced to created a microsoft account.

While creating the microsoft account, I chose by mistake Canada - French.

At the installation page, I realize that the selected language is French and that I cannot change it.

I go over all th My Account options to find the language setting in order to change it but no hope.

I figure that if I download the media maybe I will get the option of choosing my language... guess what.

I burn the image, pop the disc in and its only in French with no choice of choosing English!!!

Please Help I bought an English version, I want the English version!

Thanks,

Please note: this is not about the input language but the installation language (GUI)

    Hi

I have exactly the same problem but mine is Finnish instead of English. It seems from what I have seen that the touchpad seems to jump to the language just below the one you have selected- not helpful. Judging from the unhelpful and curiously ill formed responses from MS do you think this a ploy to just give up and by another version?

    Hey snomn,

This is really weird. I have the exact same problem as you.

I'm sure I selected Norwegian and ended up with Polish. It could be because of the rather sensitive touchpad, but coming from Norwegian and ending up with Polish, the same language as you....? Kinda weird if you ask me.

I found this link http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/i-installed-the-wrong-language-of-office-how-do-i-install-the-correct-one-HA104030885.aspx, but the "Language and install options" doesn't seem to be available for me.

I haven't downloaded the software yet (as WilsRob), so I think the best thing will be to contact support. I'm very disappointed with the way this product key registration works and would have expected better.

    Yup,

it's the damn touchpad's fault. Since Polish was the next language in the selection list and I was unlucky enough to do an unintentional "scroll" with the touchpad at the time I wanted to submit my settings. The selection jumped down a notch and I ended up with Polish.

The supid part here is that not even Microsoft knows how to solve this problem. MS haven't taken into account that people _might_ submit the incorrect settings and MS/Office "locks" the settings after they're submitted, and refuses you to change the language afterwards.

So if you don't get hold of a nice and helpful person at the MS Support Center, you're most likely stuck with Polish (or whatever language you "didn't" select), unable to get it changed.

    Hello snomn,

I have a similar problem, I was upgrading from 2010 to 2013 via the free upgrade, and somehow selected the German language version instead of English.  I haven't downloaded it yet.  I contacted Microsoft via phone, the suggestion was to continue with the download of the German version, then install the trial English Language Pack from here

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30354

Not sure I want to do that...

How did you contact support, via email or phone?? I think generation of a new key sounds like the best solution.

    Hi WilsRob,

I contacted Microsoft initially by phone and after that we communicated via e-mail. My case actually had to arrive at the manager/boss for the support center before it was solved. In fact, my problem wasn't solved, they just provided me with a way around my problem by generating a new key for me.

    Hi Malek,

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community. I shall assist you with the issue you are facing with Office 2013 installation.

You may refer to the section ‘Benefits of the new Office’ under that click Can I use Office languages other than the one I originally purchased? :

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/office-frequently-asked-questions-FX102926087.aspx

I hope the above link helps. If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Office related issues let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

We've run into this problem with two different products.

Had a customer who bought Office 2013 Home & Student English version ...when they went to install it , it defaulted to French installation....  we had another customer who just purchased Project 2013 English and is having the exact same problem where it wants to install in French Language.

Is this a KNOWN bug at Microsoft?  How can our clients resolve this  - they want to return the products for refund and we need to get this fixed.

Please advise how we should direct them !
