How to change the installation language of Office 2013

Hi,

I bought the boxed version of Office 2013 Home and Business English edition at a local store.

I come home, open the box and there's no disc (!??)

I go to office.com/setup as per instructions, enter my key and then forced to created a microsoft account.

While creating the microsoft account, I chose by mistake Canada - French.

At the installation page, I realize that the selected language is French and that I cannot change it.

I go over all th My Account options to find the language setting in order to change it but no hope.

I figure that if I download the media maybe I will get the option of choosing my language... guess what.

I burn the image, pop the disc in and its only in French with no choice of choosing English!!!

Please Help I bought an English version, I want the English version!

    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I've already tried this solution but I purchase Office 2013 not Office 365. The product has been uninstalled but there are no "Language Options" under My Account. It just says "Language: Portuguese (Brasil)" & there is no drop-down menu.  Do you have any suggestions that are specific for Office 2013? Thanks!

    Hello virgehokie,

    I believe there are only 2 solutions to this problem.  The best solution is to get Microsoft to issue you with a new product key of Office in English, and disable your current version.  This was the outcome to one persons experience on this thread.

    The other option which Microsoft offered me and several others here is a voucher for a language pack.  The downside with this option is that you will still have a Portuguese version of Office, thus when installing it you will have all the menus in Portuguese, it will not be until you install the language pack, that the Office menus will revert to English.

    If Microsoft offer you the language pack solution I suggest that you get them to walk you through the installation process.

    Similar problem here.

    I purchased Office 2013 from WalMart & when I went to install it I must have selected Portuguese as the language.  My husband stopped installation as soon as we realized it was no longer in English.  The online Microsoft help suggestion of uninstalling & reinstalling isn't working (we can't uninstall it since we stopped installation).  The Microsoft online chat agent said she couldn't help us & told us to call support.  Support was almost accusatory that we hadn't really purchased the product.  Then she switched to saying we must have purchased the Portuguese product (everything on the box is in English & no where on the packaging does it indicate it's any other version) so we should return it to WalMart.  She agreed that WalMart is not likely to take the open box back with our promise that it's trying to install in another language.  Then she said there was nothing she could do for us & we'd need to purchase another one!  Eventually she gave him the phone number for "Advanced Technical Support" and told us to call them tomorrow.

    Has anyone found a way around this language mess other than hoping someone gives out a new product key?  I feel silly that I accidentally clicked on the wrong language (I'm assuming that's what I did) but I can't understand why changing to the correct language has to be such a challenge.

    Why would this be a ploy for you to give up? I admit it is a very poor user experience, but with a little perseverance you'll be able to solve this. For Microsoft it is probably one of those lesser priority things, one they will fix in a few months or a year or so. Meanwhile, just call support. Use this as a reference if you need it.

    The way they solved this for me was to get me a Norwegian language pack free of charge. I had to go through the install in Polish (with the help of a translate tool) and ended up, as expected, with an all Polish version of Office. After installing the Norwegian language pack from the Microsoft store, all was well. Only trace left is the ability to switch to Polish spellings checker etc.

    Thanks snomn for pointing me in the right direction. And I do hope there will be a better solution soon! Because, as stated, it is still registered under Polish under My Account...
