Microsoft Office 2003 suites and applications aren’t compatible with Windows 8 (or Windows 8 Pro).

If you have Office 2003, it’s recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of Office to avoid any potential problems.

    Yes Office 2003 does work with Windows 8 ( and Windows 10 also).

    However you have the same issue when people send you docx or xlsx files. That you have to handle the same as Windows 7 or WinXP

    You need to install the Office 2007 compatibility pack to open docx etc.  You also need to install Office 2003 Service Pack
