Microsoft Office 2003 suites and applications aren’t compatible with Windows 8 (or Windows 8 Pro).

If you have Office 2003, it’s recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of Office to avoid any potential problems.

You should also go to the Windows Compatibility Center to see if the applications and devices on your PC are compatible with Windows 8.

    Send me the money to upgrade office and I'll consider it. Some folks don't have the unlimited expense account that apparently you have.

    There is another solution if you are fed up with Microsoft's abandonment of Backward Compatibility for it;s programs that people have paid good money for -- just switch to freeware like Kingsoft Office and break the MS monopoly on Office Software! I did. 

    I see these elitist attitudes frequently voiced by people who can afford overly expensive programs -- thank God there are lots of people out there who believe in Open Source on the web...and frankly -- God love the Chinese for consistently producing compatible software for free like Kingsoft Office.

    It's ironic (if you saw the film "Jobs") that Bill Gates did that exact same thing to Steve Jobs & Apple (copied his technology and undercut him by producing cheaper technology that he knew the market would gobble up. Now the same thing is happening to Gates, but I don't see him suffering in the least bit. (Pun intended).

    This particular incompatibility has no connection with Windows 8.  The format of the PST changed between Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003 from ANSI to UNICODE.  Outlook 2003 and later can open an ANSI PST, but Outlook 2002 and earlier can't open a UNICODE PST.  The solution, then, is to create an ANSI PST in the later version and transfer the data to it.  This would be true no matter what version of Windows you used.
