Thanks DavidF. That sounds worth trying. How did you uninstall Skydrive. I thought I would just go to Control Panel > Uninstall programs > Microsfot Skydrive but I couldn't see it listed!
Isn't it outrageous that Microsoft are not fixing this or even repling to apologise for inconvenience. They must monitor comments here...

Good question. BethanyHooks was the user that suggested uninstalling Skydrive fixed the problem. I think she was talking about the skydrive app that allows you to drag and drop from your local computer, sync files, etc to skydrive. I have not installed it nor
do I sync with Skydrive in any way. Perhaps that is why I don't seem to have any problems with Pub 2013 being sluggish. But then I also have not installed the Office update either:
