What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Dropping Picture Manager was a major mistake and as a result, when my trial period was up with Office 2013, I let it drop. Instead, I'll just use my old laptop that has Win 7, MS Office 2010 AND Picture Manager.

     

     

     

    As mentioned a few times previously you can just re-install Office Picture Manager from your 2010 installation after you have installed Office 2013.  When you go into the advanced install options you just un-tick everything except the Picture Manager program.  It's really not all that hard to do.  I like some of the new features in Excel 2013 and I think it would be a shame to just refuse to use a new product simply because you have to spend a little extra time to re-install Picture Manager.

    Someone also has mentioned on this forum a way of getting Picture Manager for free legally if you don't have your Office 2010 installation anymore.

    I installed Picture Manager from the 2010 disc as suggested. It worked fine. I also loaded SNAGIT, so I now have everything that I need. You have to admit that Microsoft is consistent.  They give you 1000 things that you don't want or need while taking away the things that you do need.

    One more disappointment with Office 2013, the lack of Picture Manager. It's especially annoying because I used it to rename my files, one after the other. Tonight I tried to rename files through Windows Explorer. What a nightmare until I realized that after selecting a file and clicking rename and renaming the file, I had to deselect the file before selecting the next one and renaming it. I messed up the numbering on a few files before I realized what was happening.

    Anyone know a better way to rename a lot of JPGs?
