What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Windows Live Photo Gallery is awful, as well as all the apps for programs we normally use, such as Internet Explorer, Skype, etc. The apps are slow, lack functionality and require training before you learn how to close them (instead of let them run on the background slowing down your computer). It amazes me that with all the intelligent people working for Microsoft, they are always coming up with a way to make the life of Microsoft users a little more miserable than it was before. Why not give the option to users to switch to updated versions only if they wish so? Microsoft has the annoying habit to discontinue the few things that really work, like the start button, the search command from the desktop, the Office Picture Manager, and so on. Why?????? Why not leave the desktop alone and exercise your cricked creativity on the Windows 8 Start page only, allowing us to complete ignore this madness. Anyways, please…please, bring the Office Picture Manager back the way it was. Don’t work on trying to make it better. Just put it back to Office 2013 or allow us to download a compatible version for free. There is no reason to make people’s lives miserable just because you can. Stop innovating for worse.

    How did you get Skype to close and keep it closed?

    Windows Live doesn't seem to want ANYTHING to close.

    I have no idea what the people at Microsoft think we want....

    I don't believe you can.  You can only make yourself "available" or "invisible", by tapping on whichever word shows in the top right corner and selecting the reverse.
