What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

Dropping Picture Manager was a major mistake and as a result, when my trial period was up with Office 2013, I let it drop. Instead, I'll just use my old laptop that has Win 7, MS Office 2010 AND Picture Manager.

If problems like this continue to crop up and/or there is an even more annoying push to get me to switch to "Cloud" anything, then I'll have to dump Win 8 and install 7 on my new machine, or if that doesn't solve things, then I'll give this fancy Toshiba bells-n-whistles laptop to a friend or family member who does not deal with large numbers of photos on a daily basis and go back to work on my old PC.

As mentioned a few times previously you can just re-install Office Picture Manager from your 2010 installation after you have installed Office 2013. When you go into the advanced install options you just un-tick everything except the Picture Manager program. It's really not all that hard to do. I like some of the new features in Excel 2013 and I think it would be a shame to just refuse to use a new product simply because you have to spend a little extra time to re-install Picture Manager.

Someone also has mentioned on this forum a way of getting Picture Manager for free legally if you don't have your Office 2010 installation anymore.

I couldn't agree more. I miss Pictur Manger, It's a shame it was removed.
