What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Obviously Office Picture Manager has been removed from Office 2013.  Unfortunately, Windows Live Photo Gallery does not do the jobs as well as Office Picture Manager.  We have to turn to some other 3rd party program.

    I also noticed that if you still want to use Office Picture Manager 2012.  You should not install it after installing Office 2013.  I faced many errors with Outlook 2013 after doing so.  The safest way is to install Office 2012 Picture Manager and all its service packs and updates first, then install Office 2013.  It will run just as fine as before.

    Again, I believe this is not a wise choice of Microsoft.  But they did it.  They don't really care about what we like.

    I understand with the login function of Office 2013 that MS is trying to get us to use their cloud apps and tools, however, the Live apps are all going to change as they are dumping the LIVE naming convention and who knows what will happen to all your work already created and stored in Live.  The Live picture app is just not very good so I have gone over to Picasa instead.

    You see MS, if you give us all the tools in the suite, we stay with you.  If you push us to the cloud, you don't have any influence or control over the decisions made when we are forced to change from what we liked.

    Only reason I can think of that MS would remove an excellent tool from Office:

    Licensing

    MS must license the tech used in Office Photo Manager and they don't want to renew that license.

    I agree with everyone here - how disappointing to lose Picture Manager.   I followed the advice to send a frown - I am not happy and do not want to use a third party picture editor.  Sorry, Microsoft, you goofed up on this one.
