What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

Then, for more detailed instructions, you can follow the Guide Here:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    what a bummer.. the new office 2013 really removed features that office 2010 users liked.. the Office Picture Manager is one example, by removing it in office 2013 and asking users to use alternative that lacks a lot of feature..  one example is the "compress image" option in Office Picture Manager, what other editing tools that MS have to replace this ?

    how to get it back from a previous version os MS Office.

    I've run Office Pro 2010 from it's days in BETA (I work for a MS Partner).  I too used Office Picture Manager (OPM) daily.  My Hard Drive took a long walk off a short pier and was gone forever.  Instead of doing a Ghost restore, I decided it was time to do a clean install (Electing not to install Windows 8.1 Pro, but staying with Windows 7 Pro).

    I just did a clean install of Office Pro 2013 and was dismayed at the loss of OPM (And I'm not keen on the new look, but maybe I'm just acting "old").  I read through MANY pages of this forum, and decided to try something a few people said worked for them;  Install ONLY OPM from the Office 2010 Pro disk.

    It WORKED!!  I now have OPM back and all of Office 2013 Pro seems to work just fine.

    During the install process, I simply had to select “Do Not Run” in EVERY Category.  I then went to Office Tools and selected ONLY Office Picture Manager (and crossed my fingers).

    Rebooted and it works just fine.
