What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

I talked at length to the MS helopdesk who suggested I get the whole computer replaced.

Seriously... not helpful at all! Wow.

All I can offer are these two links... if you have admin rights on your machine it's pretty simple... it worked for me and was a 5-minute fix.

I do agree with other comments... damn stupid move on Microsoft's part. The ONLY reason it wasn't included is because they didn't update the way it LOOKED... so they didn't want it to to make the new software look patched. For two or three years they blasted all over the internet how useful it was... any search for picture/image manipulation jumped to Office Picture Manager... then poof.

Totally stupid move.

Try method #1... one of two things will happen...
1. It will install perfectly. (Yeay!)
2. Your system won't allow it to be installed. (You are no worse off for trying.)
Either way... you won't have to repeat your nightmare.

To jump on the bandwagon, I will label this one of the biggest inconveniences of recent times. OPM was my go-to software for compressing, resizing, cropping and so on - easy to use, no mistakes, a great tool. Bad decision Microsoft.

I was also very disappointed to realize that the picture editor was gone. I used it mostly for web design, to resize and crop images. I am now using MS Paint.
