What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Here is a piece of my mind for microsoft don't try to fix something if it is not broken. Picture Manager was not at all broken. Do you realise the only image editor out there which does the bang up job of resizing the images hassel free is Picture manager? I fill out a lot of forms online requiring images to be uploaded in many different sizes. The only way to do it quickly and efficiently is by using Picture manager. I am now uninstalling this **** called 2013 and going back to 2010.

    Don't try to fix if it is not broken!

    This was a terrible idea to remove Picture Manager! It was the one thing I used the most! Please put it back!

    I started this post and I will follow up to ensure the original intent is clear.

    Office 2013 no longer includes Picture Manager in its install.  What this means is that when you install Office 2013 or Office 365, you don't get Picture Manager anymore.  What that means is that Microsoft no longer supports Picture Manager as a separate install and as such will not be updated to ensure future use and compatibility.  Being included as an Office tool is what it should be but MS has decided not to.

    Now, can you find a way to install it anyway?

    For now you can.

    1. Insert your Office 2010 installation disk or ISO and do a custom install of just the Picture Manager.
    2. Download and do a custom install of SharePoint Designer 2010 to install the Picture Manager.

    Apparently, much of the functionality has been written into the Microsoft Metro App that comes with Windows 8 / 8.1 called PHOTOS.  Hmmm... well, for Windows 8 users, this might work out in the end.

    I am disappointed that MS has decided to remove it as a standalone tool installed with Office. Apparently their billion dollar research facility has revealed that most users don't use it.

    So, if you are looking for Picture Manager and you just installed Office 2013 or Office 365, this is where things are for Picture Manager.
