What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

I've gotten use to Office 2013 and I've learned to like it, but removing Picture Manager and switching users to Windows Live Photo Gallery is a big mistake on their part. Any of the tablet-oriented programs that take over the whole screen and move me away from the desktop are really, really annoying. 

I have come to like Windows 8, but MS should consider a "tablet mode" and "PC mode" with the apps. The tablet apps that take over the whole screen is a major distraction from desktop style apps. If I wanted a damn iPad, I would have bought one. I want my PC to function like a PC. I'll use my iPad for Facebook and Angry Birds.

There is a lot of info in this thread. Unfortunately, many folks are too technical in forming their replies. Here is the simple answer. Microsoft Office Picture Manager still exists! It's not a 3rd party replacement or another program. It's the same Picture Manager that was in older versions of Office. If you read thru the replies to this post, you will find instructions on downloading and installing the Microsoft Office Picture Manager application from the "FREE" version of Sharepoint from Microsoft. It is exactly the same software that many people (including me) have used for years. Simple, straightforward photo editing, cropping, resizing with no need for GEE WHIZ enhancements that traditional PC users don't care for in the first place. Take some time to read thru some of the posts to this question and you will find your answer, albeit convoluted, disguised by acronyms you may not readily decipher (example: OPM = Office Picture Manager - I know. It makes sense once you know what the letters stand for.) The real frustration is that Microsoft forces you to weed through volumes of posts in their "community" to find an answer that they could post on their KnowledgeBASE or FAQ's. Good luck in your quest to re-birth Picture Manager on your new PC.

Thank you so much, I may have to use the above info. but I did find Photo Gallery (I must have downloaded it some time ago, sorry I'm 81 and have senior moments G).  Photo Gallery seems to work the same as the Picture Manager from an earlier version.  What a HUGE miss that was when I first learned and then stumbled on to this thread.
