What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

I came across this thread as I was searching online to see if MS Office 2013 had a picture manager as I could not locate it. It is disappointing that Microsoft removed this tool. For simple tasks such as resizing an individual photo the old Picture Manager won hands down against Windows Live Photo Gallery. If I want to work on one photo I don't want to open a whole gallery. I read on page 11 of this thread that a forum member recommended IrfanView and this picture manager gives me all the simple photo editor options I need so I have downloaded it.

Day 1 on Windows 8... Along with trying to locate a Picture Manager program in Office 2013 I have also just installed a 'Shut Down' and 'Sleep' shortcut for my Windows 8 Desktop. All of this takes time to work through when you should be excited about upgrading. It seems like Microsoft have taken some of the most useful and functional features away in their latest OS and Office Suite and you have to use Google (or Bing) to find out. It makes me wonder how much user testing took place during development :-(
