What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

Then, for more detailed instructions, you can follow the Guide Here:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    I can't exactly remember what I meant, but I think I was meaning that people should try things out before they bother posting a comment on this forum. (Or any forum for that matter) This was not aimed at you, but was more a general approach...no offense to anyone.

    I do not understand why you included in your otherwise informative comment, "engage brain before mouth?" 

    Free is great. I have used Picassa. It's ok but I never used it enough to find it intuitive. I have Photoshop and use it regularly and will use it for everything from now on although it is a lot more than I usually need. Paint is great too, and it is becoming my go-to for simple edits. However, I enjoyed the ease of Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Not getting that from anything else. Also I actually paid for Microsoft Office, and part of what I had as recently as a few days ago was Microsoft Office Picture Manager. My understanding is that Microsoft pays attention to this feedback and I hope they are influenced to resurrect Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

    Well, I read all the post, and the synthesis is that MS is not sensitive the needs of their customers. I solved my problem by installing Picture Manager from 2010. I also purchased SnagIt, and that helps as well. In the meantime I dumped Outlook and went to Thunderbird, and I am looking for other applications to gradually dump MS piece by piece. I am fed up with the arrogance, disrespect, and the non-customer-focus.

    I was amusing to me when MS employees would post to this thread saying how mistaken the users are, and that the replacement products are really superior. That is what I mean by arrogance. This Windows 8 is like Windows Millennium Edition. It truly sucks!

    I am also looking for alternatives for my company. The latest release of Exchange Server is an absolute disaster. Enough is enough!
