What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Actually all I want to do is either crop to fit a picture better for my website or to slightly adjust the color density.  Having the windows 8 is to me very heavy on "stuff I just don't have time for"  and short on function and fast!   I can not ever get paint programs to work... I guess I'm "pointer impaired".... but I was never good at drawing stick people either... that is what cameras are for!   I do find most of these programs ... the 365 versions hard to navigate as you can not seem to have a simple set of tools on the tool bar for basic documents to easily navigate....  so looking for tools ...which keep disappearing on me... with the new lap top I have the screen jump... and things keep disappearing on me....  Mobility is an issue and having things complicated makes that even harder.

    ALSO  it took months to get 365 to load on my desk top and I still don't know if it is all functioning properly......  my laptop I had to pay your tec's $100 to spend 4 nights ..all night... to fix it!  Brand new only months old....  so not really happy with 365!  Very expensive to install!

    Although Microsoft did remove Picture Manager from the MS Office Suite, there are many other available options for photo management-many which are free, and as with Picture Manager- lightweight. Google's "Picasa 3" picture editing software is an excellent replacement option. It contains many advanced editing features, which are applied through the use of simple 'one-click' button. Not only this, but the program features a very classy 'library view' - very similar in functionality to Windows 8's built-in image library. A simple double click on any image within this library immediately opens the image in Picasa, OR, if you wish, you can right-click the image and open it with any other editing application, such as Paint.NET, or even email it with Outlook etc.

    Paint.NET also comes close to surpassing Microsoft Office Picture Manager. It features many options similar to those of Adobe Photoshop- except far simpler.

    I think Microsoft's removal of this program was an excellent choice. People's minds become so set in a rut, and providing the public with an opportunity like this gives people a chance to expand their views in technology. Hope this reply helps someone in need
