What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    Microsoft, do you go out of your way to identify the features that are of value to customers, and deliberately remove them? What sort of market research do you do when developing these features? Anyone who has used Picture Manager in the past will testify that it is a key area of value on this platform. I strongly recommend that this be rectified, and a Picture Manager be made available as soon as possible. I will not purchase Windows 8 without this feature and I recommend others to shop around for other platforms that have this type of functionality.  Not to mention all the other usability challenges of Windows 8.

    Who would ever use PowerPoint or Word to edit photos?  Certainly nobody who is even remotely into photography.  Bad move, Microsoft.  I always thought you were a smart company.  What happened? 

     

    And BTW... most people have no interest in your cloud either.  I can't understand re-designing Office around it.  I thought Office 2010 was a great improvement over previous versions and I really liked it.  I wish I never moved to Office 2013... I can't consider that an upgrade.

    I have to totally agree as well....  even a poorly working 2003 is better than the 365!  and to have to pay again and again and again every year.....  for something that is so frustrating... considering getting a copy of 2010 and going back... also the Windows 8 is awful.... too much tooo busy ... just let me have my desk top and things that stay where I want them not floating all over the place!

    I was trying to crop with windows live photo gallery and it would not let me....  never did figure out why not... so I flashed up my desk top and took my thumb drive to it and used the Office picture manager and was done in a minute... with out the fuss and fumbling and still no cropped picture as in windows live photo gallery

    rather than fighting with these other programs it is easier to go to another computer and do the job!  Lorna

    I think Microsoft's removal of this program was an excellent choice. People's minds become so set in a rut, and providing the public with an opportunity like this gives people a chance to expand their views in technology. Hope this reply helps someone in need

    Sometimes it is unnecessary to have new IMPROVED ways... think back to the NEW MATH of the 1980's.... now no one can figure out anything with out a calculator (or phone) .. but those of us that learned to estimate or figure things out can actually visualize what the cost or answers are... when I shop I know at the till what my total should be even adding taxes to prices to with in $4 on $100 of groceries.... most clerks can't make change if you hand them bills and coins even to within cents on the total due.... unless the machine tells them the answer...

    How about providing the opportunity to maintain what was working?  and stick to something that was not broken?????  .... unlike the 365 program that was broken before we installed it???
