What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

Then, for more detailed instructions, you can follow the Guide Here:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    I use the program mainly for batch resizing photos. No other app does it so fast and so well.

    Hi Jon,

    My sincere apology ... I may have responded to the wrong post.. I also have recently only responded to MS reps, so it does sound like a mix up.  However I get angry when MS reps tell people that they can no longer use MS Picture manager w/ Windows 8 / Office 13.  Especially if you don't have a disc of previouse versions of MS office or have no more installs available.....  You/We CAN install MS Picture Manager, I have done so from the MS website (don't have it in front of me now) and I have made it my default software for any photos .. jpgs and the like....  but when "regular folk" ask MS reps... they are told that the should download other MS software to to learn how to use the features within MS word etc... they basically lie and do not tell MS customers how to download MS Picture Manager... and I think that is just shameful...  it is, I'm sure, not the tech's fault, I believe they are doing what they are told by MS.... it is shameful nonetheless.

    Anyway, sorry for "ranting" to the wrong person.  I'm very ill... If I were not, I would post the link for the MS Picture Manager right now... works w/ Windows 8 / 8.1.. and all other MS operating systems... then you just make it your default... easy.

    Ok for now, back to bed for me. Have a good night. No hard feelings I hope.

    Hi NVNikki,

    I have not posted to this thread in a long time so I am not sure why I am being blamed for giving you some advice about Publisher.  I agree, the basic functions of Picture Manager have not been replaced satisfactorily by other Microsoft programs in my opinion.

    You might try Corel Paintshop Pro - It is a nice photo editing program, though for simple sorting through lots of photos from your camera, Picture Manager still takes the prize.

    Anyway, my solution was to reinstall Microsoft Picture Manager -  which you can install from any 2010 or earlier version of Office.  You can install just the picture manager if you want without installing anything else, or affecting other Office programs.

    Someone posted a while ago that you can download and install Office Picture Manager from the Microsoft website for free.
