What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

Thank you for the explanation. I just installed Office 2013 and was very disappointed to find Picture Manager gone. Typical Microsoft 'improvement' -- guess I should have bought Office 2010 for my new computer instead. Unfortunately, the comparison articles I read before buying made no mention of the loss of Picture Manager.

No worries, I hope you get better.

I started the blog so I guess I incorrectly assumed you were talking to me. I haven't posted anything since my initial post.

It has been somewhat disheartening for me to see Microsoft want to steer people away from tools that work well without providing a better alternative. Well, enough of my rants. I'm sticking with Windows 7 and Office 2010 for now, though I've already paid for the "upgrade" to Windows 8 and Office 2013.

Many thanks Talha I have to go for the Share thingy you download as my new laptop does not have

a cd rom for my old 2007 MS Office. Great to know I will have MS picture manager again.

Have tried all the other freebies and they do not compare at all. I just need to find out if the

instructions for installing from the share thingy are the same as from the cd disk installation.

It will help me as much as it has helped you and all of us who loved it and mourned it's loss.
