What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

You can get the SharePoint Installer from this post:

Then, for more detailed instructions, you can follow the Guide Here:

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    I find ALL the options and program steps are more circuitous!  Like just getting a word template... and setting your preferences... and opening a document!  and every time you go from a program to say a picture.. you have to work your way back through windows ... you can't find your toolbar to more to the wanted program... and that it takes you place you don't want to go... I finally had to put a remote mouse on my lap top and cover the mouse pad with a large piece of cardboard so it would not accidentally sweep me someplace else because my hand brushed the pad while typing!  I find the windows set up VERY FRUSTRATING!   ABSOLUTELY STUPID SET UP!

    Could not agree with you more Bobby.  Windows 8 is not at all user friendly IMHO.

    In the two months I have had it ( came installed on a new HP laptop) the men in white

    coats are on my husband's speed dial!  I have had to use the HP  recovery around 6

    times due to things crashing.  Seems MS did not do their homework and do not

    care that thousands of us are unhappy. 

    As for Office 2013, words fail me!!!!  Cannot believe how (Not fit for purpose) both

    products are. Thank you for the heads up on Windows 8.1 as I did wonder if some of

    the problems might have been rectified but will not take the option to be proved wrong.

    Happy New Year MS hope someone out there is listening to us, taking heed and getting

    their act together in 2014.

    What I found useful in Office picture manager (that I am still yet to figure out in Office 2013) is the ready-made options to re-size or compress the picture in the desired proportions. Agreed that there are other ways getting to do it but just that I find them more circuitous.
