What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

I concur. The old picture manager was great and easy to use. I had no idea it was even part of Office, but rather thought it was part of Windows. The Windows Media Center is horrible. I just want to crop a photo. Picasa is also ridiculously cumbersome and complex for such a simple task. And of course Microsoft has made it nearly impossible to simply complain to them online about this feautre change.

Simple - use Photoshop Elements 8 - there are great auto functions similar to Picture Manager - perhaps better. I tried everything to solve this problem and even though I don't use all the functionality on PSE, it does what I want. Of course if MS ever decides to use some sense and reload MPM, I would probably use that again.

Windows Live Photo Gallery or Word or Powerpoint d not do anywhere near the easy editing that was provided by MS Office Picture Manager. For example, this provided a simple way to reduce the size of photos for documents and to enable quick emailing at a reasonable size - not flooding everyone's inbox with huge sized files that take too long to receive. I also don't like the new style of Office 2013 and sadly (actually gladly) will be removing 2013 and re-installing MS office 2007 or 2010 if Win 8 works with these programs. ..... and on this.... I have had to remove my older copy of Photoshop as it is not compatible with Win 8, but was with Win 7.... very costly when MS Office Piture Manager is not there anymore...
